As a member of a Galloway training program, you have access to a variety of retreats, podcasts, and a community of other Galloway members. Jeff and his people are constantly at work to bring us more features and cool stuff. I wanted to highlight some of the great benefits available to us; much of this information can be found on Jeff’s website.
1) Retreats/Camps/Trips
If you love to travel, you have picked a great program to join! This fall you could travel with a Galloway tour to Florence, Italy, or Athens, Greece, to run in a marathon. And next spring, Jeff is heading with a Galloway tour to Rome, Italy for that city’s marathon.
There are also several weekend and week-long retreats and camps that have been organized – in places like Lake Tahoe, Carmel, Vail, Highlands (NC), and Blue Mountain Beach (FL). Check out his website, these sound fantastic.
2) Galloway Extra Mile Podcast
Kevin Gwin’s podcast is a great way to supplement our training programs. Please download the podcast or listen online at http://gallowayextramile.blogspot.com/. He is publishing about one episode per month, sometimes in 2 parts; you can subscribe to the series via iTunes. Also, you can call in to his show with any questions you might have
3) Online Interview
Will Sanchez of the NYC Galloway program interviewed Jeff and posted the video online at http://www.blip.tv/file/5095037. Will wrote, “I enjoyed a non-stop running chat with Jeff about the 1972 Olympics, meeting his soul mate, the genesis of the run-walk strategy, magic mile and Jeff’s take whether Boston should be a World-Record [WR] qualifier.” The interview is just under half an hour and is well worth watching.
4) Motion Traxx
Motion Traxx audio downloads for the iPod and iPhone are a great training tool for us to use on those week-day maintenance runs, or any time you have to train alone. Jeff Galloway run-walk mixes have been released for 2/1 and 3/1 ratios, and can be purchased on amazon or iTunes. The mixes for :30/:30 and 1/1 ratios are currently free downloads. To download Motion Traxx, visit http://www.motiontraxx.com/jeffgalloway/.
5) Training Journal
Alas, the training journal is no longer offered. An online version will be available at some future date. In the meantime, we are on our own. If you like to write things down, any kind of dayplanner or journal can be used for this. For online options, one of our runners has been using SportTracks, which he says works best with Garmins. There are also websites such as DailyMile, and Facebook apps available, such as IJustRan, that you can use for journaling purposes.
6) Training programs around the U.S. (and Italy and Canada)
If you have a business trip or vacation coming up, or are thinking of traveling to a race out of town, you may be able to find a nearby Galloway program to run with. Check out the Training Groups page on Jeff’s website. Contact information is listed for each program.
7) Jeff’s calendar
And if you are wondering if Jeff will be participating in a race you are going to run, you can see his calendar online also.
8] Galloway logo at Big Frog
The Galloway and Track Shack logos are stored on the printing system at Big Frog, a t-shirt printing company in Winter Park with the nicest, most helpful staff. They can usually print what you need while you wait. They stock men’s and women’s cotton t-shirts in a variety of colors, as well as unisex technical shirts. You can also bring them a cotton or technical shirt you own, and they may be able to print on that. They also have mousepads, aprons, bandanas, etc. to print on.
Address is 975 S. Orlando Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789
Phone: 321-972-8879
Hours: M-F 9-6, Sa 9-1
Our logo is stored under Galloway Training, and also under my name.
9) National Training Partnerships
Jeff is pleased to announce new partnership agreements with two national charities, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. Our agreement with these charities is non-exclusive and will not impact arrangements we have with local organizations; however, fundraisers who live in our area may be joining us to train in the future.
